My first Serotta

1 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone,

I just finished assembling my first Serotta. I haven't made any adjustments to the bike yet so the seat height and angle need attention and the handlebars might need an adjustment too.

I don't know what year it is but the 2007 Serotta catalog has a picture of a HSG with the same paint scheme. It was sold as a Colorado and is made of Niobium. ST=60cm center to top, TT=53cm center to center and the Headtube is 22cm. It has Ultegra group and has the F3 fork. The bike is in great condition but does have a few nicks here and there.

I rode it down the street and I think it's going to be a great fit. I wanted a comfortable bike and not so much race geometry that it would be uncomfortable.

I bought it off eBay and got the seat from a great guy on Craigslist in Ware, Ma. As for the seat, are these Serotta embroidered seats hard to find? I don't want to tear it up if they are but I wouldn't mind finding another new one to put away for a replacement down the road.

Cheers,
Andy

Glad to see you got one. A bit different than the Club Special you started out looking for, but priorites change.

I know a certain forum member that might be envious of the geometry. The dimensions sound very close to his custom Indy Fab. At any rate, you should have plenty of leeway for adjusting to a racier position if you want to in the future.

I don't know how hard the saddles are to find. If you want to keep it nice, it would probably be easiest to get a non Serotta Flite for everyday riding and keep that one for special occasions.

Hey Howard!

Nice bike. I'll send you some stickers for that name.

I am always looking for a fully marked Serotta Club Special but they are as rare as hen's teeth. I liked this one because I started to see the benefits of a more modern bike with current sized component group.

I have only ever seen my Serotta saddle for sale and I was thrilled to find it. It came with a very hard Specialized saddle that I can swap out easily.

I don't know who Howard Solomon is but he sure got rid of a great bike. His name is painted on the frame on both sides from the Serotta factory. I'll have to figure out a good way to cover it up.

The bike came from Pennsylvania but not from Howard Solomon, it was a "picker" or pawn broker or something like that I think.

Maybe Howard Solomon is a forum member?

I assumed Sean knew the bike. No way could I make the name out on my screen.

STP sticker would look great there.

Nice score! I was watching that on eBay, looked like a great deal. Congrats!

Congrats on the bike! Glad you picked up that saddle. I had seen that on my local CL, even posted a PSA here... and was hoping it would get into the right hands.

Safe riding!

I saw your PSA after I had contacted the seller. I usually do a nationwide CL search every couple days and found it. The guy was super knowledgable and fair.

It's a small world here on the forum. I was almost sure I was going to be outbid. I bid about 45 minutes before it ended and went to sleep. When I woke up I had won.

Cheers,
Andy

It's not a very square geometry but it is comfortable and suits my long legs. I rode it about 8 miles the other night and it rode smooth and lite.

Nice find! And just my size. If you ever get tired of it, let me know.
