Attention mods: there are some spammers among us
Sewere and Millses are two of the user names, though there are probably more. The modus operandi is to bump up an old thread with an inane or nonsensical response, then a few days later they edit their post to include a link to some business.
Here are some examples for Sewere: https://forums.thepaceline.net/showt...29#post2876529 https://forums.thepaceline.net/showt...50#post2875350 https://forums.thepaceline.net/showt...02#post2874902 Some examples for Millses: https://forums.thepaceline.net/showt...64#post2874664 https://forums.thepaceline.net/showt...45#post2874245 https://forums.thepaceline.net/showt...35#post2873835 |
Good catch...I'll take care of them.

Thank you, Keith!
My guess is that although the links appear now to be just random spam, the purpose is eventually to post links that will install malware on an unsuspecting person's device. |

Boy you are good! I would have never picked-up on either one |
Thank you! I have been reporting them as I see them but would keep forgetting their usernames. The obvious tell for the most part has been bumping really old OT: threads.

what's strange is in the past we've seen this thing where noobs are just bumping old threads that seem interesting to them to up their post count, but this is obviously something different.

Does this mean that I am a suspect when I revive **super extra old** threads? Which I have done, because I am frequently reading ghosted threads
Is the malware-link issue is real? The premise is interesting, but I'd like to see an example, because recycling old links to malware seems a rather circumspect tactic. The long con is an interesting topic... |
sneaky.
