All City Cosmic Stallion Ti

Has this one been brought up? Just came across my feed.

I've been a fan of all things all city since the mr pink.

i definitely think there is room for a good, well thought out production, off the peg ti allroad bike.

not everyone has the patience or inclination to go to a custom builder, so it's nice to have the option to have your lbs order you up a ti bike, or even have one on the showroom floor.

looks pretty good

Looks pretty nice, I think you can get a USA made litespeed with ENVE fork for similar money. The all city has nicer details though.

Very weird that the 650b clearance is narrower than 700c. Pretty poor frame designing IMO, especially with 440mm chainstays.

I’d be far more excited about this if it were under 2,000$. That’s just too much money for that, though it is very cool. It claims 3/4 pound lighter than the steel version, which puts it somewhere around 2,600g for frame and fork, which is just not impressive IMO.

Looks cool but as been highlighted, there are MiUSA options for less or the same.

$2995 will net you a Honey All Roads frameset. Slightly more will get you a fully custom Seven etc.

Just too much.

What I really want is a Ti Gorilla Monsoon.

And they called it- the Bearclaw Beaux Jaxon.

That is a cool bike, but clearance for 29x3 is more than I need or want on drop bars. Rodeo Labs Flaanimal Ti is the closest I've seen.

Back on topic with the Cosmic Stallion, I consider it a major fail for the category that you can't run 650b. Too bad, the bike looks amazing.

At first glance this seems like yet another frameset that makes a custom Waltly look really smart.

QBP is the devil, don't buy one

They lure you in with interesting specs and pictures of inclusivity...but it's really about bizness. Pricing is always off

Seriously.

People always talk about how Surly are such a good deal because of the low price and I always chuckle thinking they should be 30% cheaper.

I agree... It's the same for the non-Ti version. Looking at the chainstays it looks like they just use traditional dimpled chainstay design. With the fixed rear axle you can't adjust the wheelbase to position the 650B wheel in that wider spot where the dimples are.

There are many other ti bikes that will probably be in this price range that are way more more versatile when it comes to 650B/700C tire size options.

Terrible margins (barely covers shipping and the build)...but they manage to always sell out of surly/all city. Assuming a lot of places that sell them are busy making a small fortune out of a large fortune. Crazy stuff, I don't get it. Could just be a $ laundering scheme

Did I mention that they're always heavy:)

You could get a custom frame from Bingham, Potts, or Strong for several hundred dollars more. Feel kind of bad for anyone who buys this.

pottshead 01-21-2021 10:41 PM

And if you can’t wait for a custom frame, just buy a Moots?
