Dirtphalt 2020, Covid edition

It's happening, nature permitting of course, the weekend of September 25-27.
Watch here for details to come.
I already have some great rides planned out.

BumbleBeeDave 05-30-2020 04:15 PM

Just thinking about it . . .

. . . is making my nipples hard.

parris pal, i bet you'll need a good solid weekend off by the fall. please come join us.

PaMtbRider 06-01-2020 07:31 PM

Count the two of us... uhhhh, 4 nipples? We'll be there.

parris 06-01-2020 08:31 PM

Angry I'm thinking JUST THAT! I'm somewhat familiar with that part of the state and although NYS has it's issues it's one of the most beautiful places to ride bar none. ESPECIALLY that time of year!

Hilltopperny 06-01-2020 08:38 PM

I am hoping to make it for at least one or two of the rides. My wife is due to have our daughter I believe two days prior to this event, but if she comes a bit early I may be able to make it. Either way this is a fantastic weekend of riding and the good company for anybody on the fence!

mdeth1313 06-02-2020 05:58 PM

I'm sticking with Celene Dion (or Eric Carmen).

Dave, the mods wish to inform you that they have unanimously voted to ban you from this forum for two weeks...for posting an objectionable image that offends the sensitivity of civilized society and not fitting of this very respectable community.

Other than that....hey! If you wear that, I will wear this!...inside, of course.

I might be interested in riding as well since I was really looking forward to D2R2 or any D2 for that matter. That is if you're okay with having a Masshole join in on the fun.

Have any town recommendations for places to look for an airbnb?

A1A 06-09-2020 02:19 PM

Best news I've seen all day, count me in for the weekend!

Come on over, we have a Masshole quota to fill!
If you stay in Hartwick, Cooperstown or Richfield Springs you will be within 20 minutes of all the ride starts and festivities.

I'm the proud owner of a shiny new Medicare Card so if I'm old and slow up the hills I'll play the age card. Cycling 101 is you can never have too many excuses and you line them up like a deck of cards!

You got me beat there.
I just got my initial invitation to join AARP a few months ago.

AngryScientist 06-11-2020 09:12 AM

Eric - will you have your shiny new bike by then?

PaMtbRider is scared for my health and wellbeing thinking I might be the only rim brake rider by October.

parris 06-11-2020 10:51 AM

Angry if I make it I'll probably also run a rim brake bike...

I think it's 50/50 on the new bike being ready.
So I may be riding with the stone age technology rim brakes as well.

BumbleBeeDave 06-12-2020 01:21 PM

Just about a month away.
Scouted some new roads today.
I have a couple of totally new areas to show you all that I have never taken you to before.
We are probably doing dirt all 3 days because there's so much to get to.
Think of this when you drift off to sleep tonight:

A1A 08-27-2020 09:21 AM

Dirtphalt

Awesome!

Hard to believe the summer is practically over, no idea how that happened and it's not like it was a blur, very hard to describe...

Good news is that cycling was a great distractor!

BumbleBeeDave 08-27-2020 10:22 AM

I can hardly wait!

Very much looking forward to this weekend. Unfortunately I will be solo this year. Rox has foot surgery scheduled for the first week of October to repair an old injury that is getting worse. She is still allowed to ride, but was told to take it easy and not put a lot of pressure on her foot. All of her riding this summer has been flat short rides.
I guess she could bring her Honda Monkey and motor pace us up the dirt roads.

She will be very much missed on the rides and I hope she will come join us in whatever capacity she can.
Will you still be able to maintain KoM status without your riding partner?
Opportunity could knock for someone else this year......
Will Nick bring cycling glory back to his home state of NJ?
Can BBDave find the lost suitcase of courage and leave us all behind?
Stay tuned it will be interesting!

Agree, it has been a great cycling summer.

Looking forward to this year. Hope the weather is going to be optimal!

Any chance the colors will be starting to change at this time of the year up there?

They are already starting up here. The weather is getting cool up this way and south usually gets the same way a couple of weeks later. I would think there should be a pretty good amount of color in three weeks.

Saw my first red leaves on a swamp maple yesterday.
Usually we have this event in October. I moved it up this year hoping for great weather so we will be able to be outside the entire time.
And there should be early foliage change in this area. Peak here is usually first or second week of October.

weisan 09-02-2020 01:39 PM

Assuming....and at this point, it's all just assumptions....but assuming I can pull this off on my end...is there anyone interested in picking me up at the airport, take me to this event, host me while I am there, and when it's over, kindly drop me off at the airport on my way back to Austin?

:D

I will bring my own bike which means I will have a ritchey breakaway case.

Is Albany the best airport to fly into from Austin?
