Custom(ized) Open U.P.

New to me Open U.P. (3rd gen.) that came as an RTP version painted satin black. I decided to do some customization and below is the end result. I just completed the build so I didn't have time for much more than an initial quick shake down ride.

Thanks! The design and painting was done in-house (ok, well my garage) :)

So you did the paint work?

Yep. Re-did the satin with a black matte finish then did all the detail work and other colors. The custom color Open decals came via a forum member. If you look closely enough you will see spots that give it away that it wasn't a pro job, but I am very happy with the way it came out. After all its a do-it-all bike, not an Italian/Campy show queen...

Looks great to me. I should have sent my Colnago to you instead of Wanta!! You even have the right blue color. That's a great looking bike and incredible build. Looks like it will be a blast to ride.

That look great, Rob. Love the design and colors. Nice build too.

Impressed! That paint is gorgeous.

Talked about that shade of blue when choosing paint for my Alliance. Apparently some refer to it as Playboy Blue

Ya, man, really like the job you did with the paint, pro or not!

pritchet74 08-19-2019 01:23 PM

Wow - I absolutely LOVE that paint!

Great build on the thing too - that's a bike that I would love to have in my stable.

Sweet; looks great. See you out on the road soon!

Looks great!
Only thing I would change would be the stem, but if it fits- ride on!
SL Sprint->SL Speed for me, less harsh lines also half as much drop or rise.

Great build as always and nice job on the paint!

Your seatpost collar is installed with the wrong orientation.

It is written in the manual that the seatpost collar should be installed so that the bolt is in the front. There is a small insert on the collar in order to find the correct position.
