well this is some classics season (or not depending on your opinion of what's interesting)...

either way, legendary performance.

Dominant performance

Yep, dominant performance… but in a decimated field.

Boring.

Im a MvdP fan but agree a bit. He did have a couple things work in his favor; ie Mads flat, having a super strong team to help, etc...

Well, he soloed to victory last year with WVA and others competing. The top finishers this year were almost identical to last year. MVDP can only compete against whoever starts the race. I suppose he could have given the field a handicap to make it more interesting.

On the other hand. So cool to see the world champion complete the Flanders Roubaix double and join a very select group of riders.

This is as exciting as F1 these days

So male and female World champs both win Paris-Roubaix. Pretty cool.

Happened in Flanders half a dozen years ago with Deignan and Sagan iirc.

Last year when van der Poel made his attack, van Aert was able to follow. He only got dropped when he subsequently had a flat tire. This year, van Aert isn't in the race and no one can follow. There's a very good chance van der Poel wins today no matter what, but I'm pretty confident it would have been a hell of a lot more entertaining if van Aert had been healthy and on the start line.

It was entertaining . . .

haven't watched the highlights of the Men's race yet, but it sounds like the women's race was way more exciting.. they had a 6 person finish in the velodrome..

Not unlike the Cancellara breakaways, it’s either a chance to appreciate his ability to be smooth and fast sector after sector … or it’s boring. I try to appreciate, same as I do when he’s dominating a CX race.

Had Wout and Stuyven been in the race today and Mads at 100% (not crashed 10 days ago), it would have been a very different race, VdP may very well have still won bu at least it would not have been a snooze fest for the last 50k

I would sworn that all MVDP dominating power was coming from his mullet but today I was proven wrong. Hopefully it is in full effect by tour time.

Did he not have the legs or thought somebody else would chase?

Certainly was a dull watch.
