@wc1934, what’s up with the bald eagle as mascot for SS Lazio? Bald eagles aren’t native to Europe, and the Lazio mascot should be a golden eagle anyway.

Also, hope you are enjoying the start of Napoli’s season.

Don't know - as long as I can remember their nickname was águia (eagle), and Olimpia was their mascot.
Did you see Sarri carrying her around - loved it- hope they do well for his benefit.
Yes - Napoli off to a good start - they have only given up 2 goals in 6 matches!

Thursday play Spartak Moscow - Europa league.

At first, I was like, how quaint, a stuffed eagle. Then I noticed the protective gauntlet, which made me think: wait a second, that bird is alive. And it's a bald eagle to boot!

Oh clucking bell, Man Utd scores in Fergie time...

And of all players!

But great goalkeeping.

That Salah goal . . .

Reader, I jumped out of my chair.

Delightful, ain’t it? As was his dribble to set up Mané.

Defensively a bit disjointed though. Could go far in Champions League; not as sure about EPL.

Also, Napoli maintains a 100% start to the season.

Trent was out, and City, on song, will make most teams struggle.

Edit: I will say, the Foden/Milner mismatch was ridiculous, and Liverpool dodged a barrel full of bullets there.

Dodged a bullet the way Kompany dodged a bullet during that early January match in 2019. Which is to say, should have been sent off, but wasn't.

I wonder if Klopp might start experimenting with a back-3 system to cover for some of the defensive hiccups. Unlike last year, LFC has loads of healthy and capable defenders, and one of them is quite good at carrying the ball forward (Matip, though van Dijk isn't half bad in that department either). Lessens the defensive liability of Trent AA (though he really isn't as bad as the way pundits slag him), while maintaining a bit of solidity. Obviously not needed against low- and mid-table teams, but could help things when playing against City or Chelsea (or Brentford, apparently).

Looks like the brain game works.

A two goal lead at half-time over Italy

And Italy down a man.
Thus their 37-match unbeaten run is ended (lose 2-1).

Also, guess who’s on SS Lazio’s roster?

Here’s a hint, he’s comfortable playing on the right wing.

Bantering aside, who says Lukaku can’t hack it against the big boys? Belgium on its way to become the best French-speaking country left in the Uefa Nations League.

Damn, the vicissitudes of football.

France comes back from two goals down to win...
