Oldest Still Running Steel Bike on this site

I have a mid-80s Bianchi, but I know others have older bikes.

To qualify, you must ride it at least 12 times per year.

Whatcha got?

Mine is my 1972 Bob Jackson, built for me and received just over 49 years ago. Gets ridden regularly, three rides this month. In my continuous possession since built. Three repaints over time.

Pair of 78’s: Richard Sachs and Davidson.

Oldest is a ~1980 here… actually more than one.

But another question: who’s regularly riding a bike that’s older than they are??

One more requirement - pics or it didn't happen.

Some of my bikes are like the ship of theseus

Does F/F/HS count? I was riding my 1980 touring bike heavily until mid 2019.

Still ride Peugeot all the time bought it in 1984. Upgraded to C record after I bought it. Wish I could get better gearing. [emoji3]

Agreed -- that's a proper fork rake.

Well a year or two ago for me it would have been one of these two 1972 bikes.

Peugeot U-08, I really regret selling this one:

So for now my oldest is my beautiful 1985 Fuji Opus III. It's too small for me really but there is no way I'm giving it up. In fact I searched for a long time to find so Suntour Superbe hubbed tubulars to put back on this. Everything else is pretty much stock except the saddle. I'm even using the original cable housing, have the original pedals in storage, and the original cloth bar tape is under the leather bar tape still.

These bottle cages were a nice, new touch.

And....just 'cause I love to show off beautiful bikes. How about this one? Yeah, it's new but it's frame is built to spec of their 1930's frames to include a special run of Reynolds 531 tubing. Man is it one sweeeeeetttttttttt ride!

1985 SLX Colnago, before this came to the oldest was my 1972 Chrome Schwinn Paramount.

P5 is gone, after riding acquaintance had a clip out fail and fell on me despite his best effort of abating. His freshly restored Torelli got pretty messed up, my right leg scraped deep, top tube and seat tube got dented good. Quick releases bar tape and brake levers all got some good scrapes. It was a 0 MPH mess of circumstances. He cracked a few ribs even.

So I let the bike go keeping the fresh built tub wheelset and tires. He offered to compensate the damages, I said I got it, just his offering was sufficient music for me. Plus I got to listen to him groan for 2 weeks riding with cracked ribs. ;0
