As a life long motorcyclist all I can say about that movie is it did nothing to help with the public's perception of our chosen transportation medium. But it was 1969 and that and Woodstock seemed to set the tone. Thankfully most of us made it out alive.
A far better film made just two years later by a guy named Bruce Brown (of The Endless Summer fame from 1966) was On Any Sunday and that was a truly positive portrayal of our sport. Still is!

As for Peter I think I remember him best from Dirty Mary Crazy Larry

I don't think easy rider was about your transport medium

it was about an incredibly dynamic time in American history and the dudes just happened to be riding choppers as a way to tell a much larger story.

time to get on your transport medium of choice cuz we are in those times again.

Ot

In the early 90s I owned a MBZ 300TD (great car, gave up my '73 911S to get it a month after my son was born). One day I was picking my car up and there was a very nice 6.9 with Montana plates up on the lift, which I admired, and my mechanic told me it belonged to Peter Fonda, he drove it back and forth between LA and his ranch in Montana. Presumably, at a very high rate of speed.

Peace.

My first Moto cross country trip (13k miles) happened 9 years after the film was made and in some places I went through THAT was what they thought motorcyclists were like.

"Those times again"? I don't see the correlation. I'm less worried about getting shot but far more worried about getting hit by someone texting...

In the 1960s there was some weird convergence of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters, the San Francisco hippie scene and the Hell's Angels, of all people. It came crashing down at Altamont Speedway at the end of the decade.

Loved the movie. Hated the ending. Peter Fonda was great for his day.

I think anyone riding a motorcycle without a front brake never really expected to live to be 79.

True american icons. Both Fonda and the movie.

Iconic movie, one hit wonder has been/never was actor. Rode the coattail name of his infinitesimally better man of a father, who was likely embarrassed of his children.

Easy Rider can rot in hell wherever he is.

Maybe google what he "tweeted" to the universe about doing to a certain young son of a current controversial political figure. Sickening. Cowardly. You just don't do that.

Hey, it's a bike forum! What's the best chain lube?

Agree, On Any Sunday a great film but Easy Rider wasn't about motorcycles but about life in the late 60s..A great movie as well, IMHO

Peter Fonda, RIP sir...Only the last of the three, Jack Nicholson, is still alive. Dennis Hopper-rip also.

For right above..yikes..
