Craftsman Inflator for Cyclocross
 

I just picked one of these up after reading multiple how-to articles online and watching every video I could find. I had a few questions around the stock hose length and accuracy, both of which I will outline below. Overall, having borrowed one of these a few times in the past, they are super cool and easier to carry around compared to a floor pump.

Most of the write ups that I found focused on cutting the stock hose and replacing it with a Silca hose, barb, and thread on Presta adapter. However, this near new one I picked up on FB Marketplace for $68 has a like new hose. I was curious if that silver Shrader end that they come with is easily removable. Turns out it is. Small vice grips on the head, needle nose to work the clamp down the fitting. 30 seconds later everything seems to be in good shape. I plan on heating up the hose and lubing the new presta head up a bit before insertion. :)

I found an older silca presta head on ebay and am hoping it works with the leftover hose and clamp as is. Worst comes to worst, i'll remove the clamp and get a new one.

As is, the stock hose with the head removed is 18" long from tip to the red fitting.
I'll test the pressure accuracy with my Topeak digital checker and report back.

I put a disc wheel adaptor aka crack pipe on mine.

I'm fixin to change that out for a dual valve head. ...as soon as I get around to it.

It's nice knowing you can set your psi to 26.1 rather than guessing via the floor pump's semi-accurate gauge.

I've got one. I just kept it stock and put the Silca threaded presta adapter in it. seems to have a solid enough seal. and it's nice because you can remove it easily to use on car tires or whatever. mine reads a couple PSI under what my Topeak gauge does, but if you're using only it for airing up your CX tires, you'll never notice really.

they're unfortunately hard to find these days. Ryobi make a similar one that has an analog gauge which is much cheaper at around $30 (without battery). not as accurate with the analog gauge, but I suspect one would get used to it and get along just fine.

Super happy, plug and play with the new Silca head.
Replacement battery from eBay is nice as well. Up and running!
Accuracy Test: 55.5 PSI on the Craftsman reads 55psi on my Topeak digital checker. 30 PSI on the craftsman was 29 on the Topeak. I'm satisfied.

Can you do 90 - 110 with that inflator??

120 no problem with mine, used with a regular Silca head.

Yes, up to 200psi according to the internet. However, non of my wheel sets for road or cross will ever go above 65psi.

Got one and use it a bunch. The gauge in mine is pretty darn close.

Ryobi (Home Depot) makes one too, and I’ve got one for the car), but the gauge on that one really stinks.

I have 6-8 battery tools that use the 19.2 volt battery. They are fine for home use but I need a couple of batteries. Any look with non-craftsmen lithiums?

I got a big battery from Amazon that said it fit the 19.2 stuff.

It did.

Mostly.

Didn't fit the charger, so I took out the offending plastic bits that were interfering.

Runs both my drill and my handheld compressor.

This is the exact NiCd battery I bought for $16 shipped. I went with the NiCd because the inflator itself came with an older NiCd single chemistry charger so I can't comment on any good Lithium Ion replacement batteries

I’d really like to get one of these, but all my cordless tools are Porter Cable. I’m loathe to add a different battery system to the mix.
