OT: C6 vertebrae pinched nerve

Ever had this issue? Been off the bike for 3 weeks. Not terrible pain just neck ache and radial pain to bicep area. Sleep was tough until I got contoured latex neck pillow (a beautiful thing).

Pretty sure it's C6 as that was the issue in 2006.

Done prednisone, stretches, ice, heat, anger...and no improvement. PT and MRI next week.

Any miracle cures?

How about a good chiropractor? Worked for me.

You should visit several, sort of an interview process. Talk to them about your apprehensions. Good ones are good listeners. Your health insurance most likely will cover a large percentage of your visits. At least give it a try.

My Chiro has really helped me with neck and back issues.

So, I have a cool story....

I had the same thing over 10 years ago. I got a cortisone shot it made it worse. Surgery was next on the list. I started to got to a myofasical masseur weekly. After six weeks full movement, no neck pain. However my left should was completely f’ed. I went to the ortho for that MRI showed major cartilage damage from racing, tennis and basketball. Had the shoulder fix and I don’t have neck problems anymore.

I had a C6 problem, but all it did was make my right index finger go numb. I even learned to operate my computer mouse with my left hand. I eventually got a shot in my spine that fixed me up.

I've got spinal stenosis and also got two injections on very low vertebrae to stop leg and butt pain on the right side.

Maybe, but on a couple of occasions I have half crawled into my chiro’s office and walked out an hour later as if nothing had been wrong. There is a HUGE difference in practitioners and look for one who is scienc-based.

Perhaps a PT that does manual manipulation. Personally for me I am more science based.

YMMV. After a lot of failed alternatives, my wife had her C5/C6 fused.

Issue solved

I have C4C5 disc pinching the nerve that has me feeling pain down to my wrist.

Treating with a nerve blocker but the doc is talking fusing the bones my best option. I'm now looking for chiroprctors that have some medical training.

good luck OP and keep exploring your options.

This worked for me on a moderately painful problem, enough for it to affect my sleep quite a bit.

A few years ago I had hip / leg issue for a few weeks. (It's been long enough that I don't remember the details.) I went to see a PT (my orthopedic surgeon had given me a script for a few sessions). After I explained the problem the head guy had me lie on my side, stood next to me, then did some sort of "lift" and magically, almost instantaneously, it felt better, and I've never had the problem since.

that's the magic bullet

I am hoping for next week from PT.

Try Rolfing..worked for me..'Some' of the sessions are NO FUN..but worked..

YMMV, IMHO and all that.

eddief 01-17-2021 07:18 AM

Definitely get it sorted out and taken care of. I hurt my C5-C6 twenty some years ago during an airborne jump. 6 months of army physical therapy didn't really fix it. Something finally popped in it and made it feel normal when I hit a vehicle doing a backwards ram.

For the past 8 years or so I periodically get a burning itching sensation in my arms, mostly around the elbow and forearms but sometimes higher. It can last for days and is quite maddening. About the only halfway solution is to apply a very strong capsaicin cream that burns itself. Dr says the nerves are damaged in that region from the past injury.

I suspect a chiropractor would have set it all straight and right initially if I had seen one and I might now have this chronic issue now. Good luck!
