Do you mark your stem/ bar interface to remember the positioning?
 

The mention of the Zinn stem in the coupler build forum just had me wondering - and the mind is straying a bit as I work on yet another spreadsheet here.

Do you mark your stem and bar interface to remember your position? Not all bars have effective markings and even if they do, the stem usually doesn't have anything to do a relative position.

I used to use a dab of white-out but that wears off over time. That would also help me see if there was any slippage after doing and removing and replacing.
Don't use anything at all anymore tho.

So if you do, what's your method?

I just make the bottom of the drop level. Removes the need for worrying about any kind of bar/stem stuff.

airplane tape on both sides

small mark.

easy does it.

I mark my seatpost (so that I can easily check that it isn't slipping)

I do this too, but with blue painters tape.

Little piece of yellow tape. So can make changes, then put it back where started maybe.

You can always get a digital level and measure the angle of the flats on the drops when you have everything where you want it.

The bar/stem interface is one of the few parts of the bike that never changes for me...or, frankly, for anybody else I know. Unless for whatever reason your ideal bar position is with the drops non-level, and you frequently swap out stems or bars or..um...why would you be loosening those bolts anyhow?
