Time VXRS Ulteam
 

Anyone ridden one? Ride qualities? Torsional stiffness? Any idea if they are Italian or English BB threads? Not really looking for editiorials on translink (why fix it if it isn't broken types)) Thanks in advance

I have had a VXRS for almost two years now; it is not the ULTEAM, but my understanding is that the only difference is that the Ulteam has carbon dropouts. I will summarise that it is the best bike that I have ever owned. It does everything so well, and has the greatest neutral handling. great balance in a light bike. The BB threading is British.

EdK -- Second hand information here, but Jack Brunk recently purchased one of these and he really likes it so far. His is the ULTEAM version and you might contact him directly if he doesn't reply to this thread.

i also had a VXRS and it, too, was the best bike i've ridden. but perhaps more telling... an ex-pro is now riding my old VXRS, a guy who has been a rep for some very high end u.s. and euro bike brands... and_he_says it's the best bike he's ridden... for what it's worth.

Just curious -- so why aren't you riding another one now?

good question. wanderlust, a weakness of mine. plus, they're wicked expensive.

I just got a VXRS (not Ulteam) this past winter I had originally looked at a VXR but had problems getting it delivered in my size, so the shop I was working with gave me a break on the VXRS. I really love this bike, I'm a bigger rider too (around 200 lbs but dropping :rolleyes: ) and I find it to be stiff enough but also compliant. It handles the local climbs around Boulder well, and the handling is great on the descents. I also have a Litespeed Tuscany and the VXRS is vastly superior in terms of both comfort and performance. If there is any thing in particular you would like people to comment on there are a lot of helpful people on the board .

the bike's awesome is everyway except its toptube is too wimpy and its flexy from side to side because of that. great headtube stem and fork assembly; perfect drivetrain rigidity; nice road feel; fine geometry but it needs a different top tube to be perfect; at least in the bigger sizes and for an obtuse idiot who's too lazy to spin a gear above 90rpm unless he's sprinting....(and that my friends is a pretty hurting sight not as hurting as this though.

If that is the one that is white and costs about 4500 to 5000 or so it must be one awesome frame. The head wrench in my store puts it above his C-50 and he doesn't put that many frames in that category. They just sold one.

I will NEVER NEVER get rid of my Ulteam.

How did your Parlee compare to the Time?
Are we splitting hairs here, or was the Time clearly the best?

yeah, it's a hair-splitting difference for me. the parlee climbed just a bit more easily, while the time was a better all-arounder, especially for powering big gears (for me anyway!) on the flats. but both are A+; it's a vanilla or chocolate choice. gotta say, the white boonen model is very tempting, especially if it came with a boonen engine!

GVH has some of the Time 'assos' version frames in stock, not cheap though.
