Regarding bike prices, NOTHING is cheaper in Singapore. I couldn't imagine riding on the roads during the day but noticed lots of riders out in the very early morning hours (5-6am) when the streets are lightly traveled.

Sadly, I noticed such a difference peoples weight in 5-6 years between trips as American fast food sprang up. It was not common before to see heavy folks; not so much later on.

..beat me to it, nothing is cheaper in SG! though I guess comparatively, when you spend $$$$ on your apartment $$ on a bike is seemingly less. LOVE Singapore, there for work a bit, hawker markets are my favorite for variety, quality and types of food. Not sure I'd ride a bike there, other than early AM though

This is what I heard, not sure how true...

Specialized dealers having a price war at the moment, nobody to rein them in, so in fact you can get them cheaper here in Singapore than US.

Just specialized, don't know about other brands.

I did...my childhood hero. :p

I don't normally step into a bike shop. It was fun to spend half a day at his shop watching him work, I picked up quite a few tips from there. He and his biz partner Yusof created a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

At the airport. Leaving. Going home.

Had a great time visiting with family, reconnecting and celebrating Chinese New Year with them. Ate too much. But that's to be expected. Thanks to tttm forum pal who loaned me a set of wheels, I get to ride almost daily for 2 1/2 weeks, sometimes even twice a day, that was super awesome, and probably save me from going crazy and super fat on this trip. Totally worth the hassle. Yes, traffic can be bad and roads dangerous but if you know where and when to ride, it's entirely doable.

Relationships are very important.

Getting along is not always easy.

But it's necessary.

People don't usually change that much, even with age.

We are who we are. Better to accept and appreciate than to try and change someone.

Life is short.

Consider what's important to you and commit yourself fully to the pursuit of those goals.

Look forward, don't look back.

Thanks for your trip reports. Glad to hear that there's passable riding to be had. I'll have to do my duty soon and make my own pilgrimage back. I'm not sure I'll have the patience to bring a bike along.

Wise words, Weisan. Leaving family behind is always bitter sweet. I presume you are Singaporean? My wife is from there and we’re overdue for a trip back. I doubt that i would be brave enough to bring my bike but that would certainly make a long trip more enjoyable at least for me. Hope you have a safe trip home.
