Tough Ride Video-Tajikastan

Thought initially that they didn't have enough 'gear' with them..until I realize they have a SAG truck behind them. Still very memorable..

Wow - spectacular.

As long as you have the time and the will, bicycles really are the perfect way to do that sort of trip. On foot is way too slow, car is too disconnected, motorcycles a bit better than cars, but you still don't have enough time nor do you put in enough blood, sweat and tears to get that visceral feel cycling can give you.

Guided version

TSC offers a guided version of this trip.

Long for a return to the day when a trip like this doesn't seem foolhardy for a person with a US passport. Took the chance to ride bikes along the Karakoram Highway from Kashgar to Gilgit in the late 90s. While the memories are fresh, seems like a lifetime ago now. Really is an amazing part of the world and 99% of the people we met were open, friendly, thrilled to share the wonder of where they live, etc, etc.

+1 on bikes being the best vehicle for a trip like this.

Gorgeous country. Not just truck supported, looks like they had a helicopter too from some of the camera angles.

lol. probably more like a drone.

drone footage has really upped the ante for adventure footage, pretty cool stuff.

charliedid 01-02-2021 11:28 AM

Yeah I agree with Nick probably drone.

Seems like a nicely made production to sell trips and or tourism.

Like.

Yeah, that video is very rad and the scenery is absolutely amazing

A little humble brag, but that grey merino sweater (and the grey base layers) Christian is wearing for the cold weather are ones of many that we made: Cima Coppi for Service Course... which is cool because I'm not going to get to go ride my bike in Tajikastan any time soon, so at least our stuff can help me live vicariously through him!
