Colorado Cyclist Closing
|
Same thing with Planet Cyclery which is a sister company. Wow. Loved shopping their deals over the years. I have a feeling I'm about to go broke stocking up on closeouts, though at the moments the deals don't seem much better than they normally are.

https://planetcyclery.com/continenta...5000-road-tire ...yes I understand it is more complex than just the pricing for one tire. |
Well the news is out apparently. The website is slooooow.
|
Ive always wondered, are the websites inventory the same for planet and colorado cyclist? Just a different name? Whats the purpose of that?
|
I bought a few things last week from CO Cyclist and there are some good deals to be had. POC helmets in particular are marked way down.
Although the website color was different from what they sent (different Greens), this does explain why they didn't bother to answer my customer service email about it. |

When Planet Cyclery (owned by Velo) bought Colorado Cyclist and when both their websites started to look the same, I knew it was only time when one of them folded. Turns out, both are folding.
I used to love receiving those Colorado Cyclist sales magazines by mail way in the early 2000s along with Performance Cycles, Nashbar, and Pricepoint. Quote:

I thought so as they recently merged with Planet Cyclery & their shipping got wonky
Sad to hear as I had some fond memories with them & even last year bought things thru them at a fair price. Back in the 80's I bought a Steel Masi Gran Corsa frameset from them for $430 I think it was. Rode that for over 10 years As others have said loved their catalogs ...along with Excel Sports, Nashbar & Performance Gawd I hope we don't lose Excel too! |
Soon we only have specialized or whoever else manages to stick it out.
Personally I think a lot of this is the consumers fault for buying counterfeit crap or deals with overseas retailers or directs such as btlos. |
Oh, bummer. In the 90s I used to be on the look out for their catalog, to drool over the litespeeds and looks. Sad. I bought my LS mountain bike from them in the 2000s.
They also had excellent in-house built wheels back in the day. |
Consumers like me went to BTLOS because of the $2800 wheelset prices from Enve for stuff made overseas. Just saying.

Boy is it slow!
Just a heads up to not expect too much in the way of packing if you order. I bought one of the $50 Power Torque cranks that Weisan had brought to our attention recently. Neither arms were wrapped and the non-drive had a few dings from hitting the chainrings. |

Site is slow, but they don't actually seem to have many good discounts right now. They had a handful of items I had been considering, and none of them are marked down from where they were a week ago right now.
