New road helmet suggestions.
Can anyone recommend a good road helmet. Mine is old and needs to be replaced.

The most important thing, IMO, is to find a brand that fits your head shape, so I'd recommend that you go to a couple of local bike shops and try on as many as you can.
FWIW, after doing that I ended up with 2 POC helmets, even though they don't look good (few helmets do). I liked the look of both Kask and Specialized but they didn't fit my noggin. |
Yes, there are many to choose from but you need to try on a few brands to see works for you.
Also you need to decide if you want aero with less ventilation or more vents that are less aero. |
Giro lids have always worked with my head shape.
replaced my crash-exploded Aeon (which I really liked) with a Synthe II MIPS. can't say I appreciate the look as much and it's not quite as comfortable. not sure why the fit isn't as good. |

I have a big, long head, which some say Giros don’t fit well but have had nothing but good luck ordering them untried. That said, the LBS advice is solid.

Smith Overtake => Lazer G1 MIPS
I recently upgraded my 8 year old Smith Overtake to a Lazer G1 MIPS.
It is noticeably lighter with a great adjustment/retention system. Bought one for my wife, too...I bought her the same Smith when I bought mine and if the argument was that it was time to upgrade from a safety point of view, I figured my wife's head was worth protecting, too. She's happy with hers as well. I'm NOT in an area with a lot of options for trying one on, so I went by recommendations from here and VA Tech's safety recommendations. I realize this is not the optimal approach, but I'm perfectly content with my decision. |

I wear an airbag on my motorcycle, but no way I'm wearing a cervical collar on a bicycle.

Can't really prepare for every scenario, just the most common ones. |

Giro fits me. I have an Aether. Did not have a color choice. It has saved my bacon. |
