GIOS Torino Super Record -- Vintage Italian - $1,400

Note. Friend is selling He doesn't ship But i can pick and take to a local bike shop for them to pack and ship for you One i like Frame Up Bike
GIOS Torino Super Record -- Vintage Italian - $1,400
Gios Torino Super Record – Italian Vintage $1400 OBO

Gorgeous, immaculate Gios Torino Super Record bicycle in highly desirable “Gios Blue” paint. Ca. 1981-82.

Seat Tube: 57cm ctc
Top Tube: 56cmctc
Stand-Over height: 32.5”
Columbus SL tubing.
Campagnolo drilled drop-outs. Gios “coin” inserts in tops of forks. Metal GIOS headbadge. And, “GIOS” panto in bottom bracket shell. The frameset has been resprayed. No dents. No scratches worth noting. Look at photos.
Braze-ons for 2 water bottle holders.

I received this bike as a frame and fork, and eventually decided it was a little too big for me. Meanwhile, I cherry-picked the best/nicest period-correct components I could find in excellent working condition:
Full Campagnolo Super Record Groupset. (Rear derailleur is NOS.)
Vintage 3TTT suede-covered saddle
Cinelli Bars and Stem
NOS Mil-Remo Bar end plugs
NOS Regina 6-speed Freewheel
Campagnolo hubs are laced to Mavic “Module E” CLINCHER rims with new Clement tires, new tubes.
New cables and cable housing. New Deda white leather bar tape. New chain (for improved shifting over vintage chain). NOS water bottle holders.

The Gios legend:
“Gios is one of the great pillars in Italian cycling history and culture, and the Gios Torino Super Record is a true monument of its time. The birth of the Super Record is closely connected with team Brooklyn. This iconic cycling team was formed around Roger de Vlaeminck (aka, Mr. Paris-Roubaix) and, starting in 1973, rode exclusively on deep blue Gios Torino bikes.”
These bikes sell for very big dollars on Ebay and through vintage bike dealers. Take a look here, or example:
I don’t wish to deal with eBay, shipping, or international buyers. So, I am offering the bike at a very attractive price for Bay Area residents.

$1400 OBO

Serotta Ottrott Titanium Carbon Fiber with Dura Ace - $2,700 (Escondido)
1 Attachment(s)

Serotta Ottrott Titanium Carbon Fiber with Dura Ace - $2,700 (Escondido)
bicycle with Carbon Fiber Toptube and Downtube that mimicked the Colorado Concept Tubing that Ben Serotta pioneered in their Amazing Steel Colorado frames. The tubes are smaller on one end and flare out to a larger diameter at the bottom bracket/seat tube.

An absolutely amazing riding frame.

56.5cm size frame with a 56tt, Serotta F1 carbon and titanium fork, Cane Creek threadless headset, Ritchey stem, Easton Carbon Handlebars (42cm width) and Easton Carbon seatpost. Dura Ace 9speed (12-25) with the exception of the Dura Ace crank and bottom bracket that I upgraded to a newer Dura Ace 172.5 length model because of the old Octalink creak problem. Original Mavic Helium wheels, Vittoria clinchers... This is an all-day bike that does exactly what you tell it to do.

If it fits you, there's no way you could be disappointed in the ride quality.

Currently has a Men's Terry saddle on it but I have a couple others that I'm willing to swap it out for if you need something different. I think I have a Specialized Body Geometry and a Fizik and maybe a Giant TCR seat.

Does not come with pedals, but if you tell me what pedals you ride and I happen to have some of that brand in a box, I'll include them. Otherwise I'll have some platform pedals so you can test ride it in regular shoes.

If you look at the pictures, the seat is set at approximately 76cm from bottom bracket center to top of seat. The seat post that's in it will extend a good 4-5cm or more safely without reaching the minimum insertion. So at 5'10-5'11 this bike is pretty spot on using traditional measuring techniques for older level top tube frames. I would not advise someone shorter than 5'8-5'9" to consider buying this. It's good for someone 5'9" to well over 6' provided the top tube reach matches your needs.

Happy to meet up at the small shopping center near my house here in North side of Escondido for you to check out in person and take it for a quick spin. Let me know what day and time is good and we'll set up the in person meeting via craigslist email.

Very cool - are there two rear brakes on that bike?

Good eye. As best I can judge, it seems that one of them is controlled by the captain and one by the stoker. Don't recall seeing brake levers on the stoker's bars before, but I'm no tandem expert.

1940 Hetchins Brilliant, Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub, curly stays,Campagnolo

1940 Hetchins Brilliant Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub, curly stays,Camrock.
You have seen this same bike listed as a competition. After checking with the historian through the Hetchins website, we now believe it is a Brilliant.
H22321 is listed in the sales ledgers as a 22-inch curly frame,
without a model designation, but is certainly some sort of Brilliant.
Please see the 1940 catalog for more information on the models
available in that year:

Yours was first sold on 18 March 1940 to Francis Southall, price 8
pounds 15 shillings. Yours was produced in the second month of 1940
(hence, the first 2), and was the two thousand three hundred
twenty-first frame made since they started counting in Aug 1935 (the
trailing 4 digits).

Regards & tailwinds,

This Bike was last ridden by it's owner, noted cycling advocate, author of cycling guide books, Wisconsin cycling hall of fame inductee and co-founder of among other rides the Chequamagon fat Tire festival., Phil Van Valkenberg. Phil road it in the 80 mile 2013 Lake Pepin 3 speed tour. Since his stroke in 2014, Phil is riding a tandem recumbent tricycle. He is donating this and two other of his vintage bikes to raise money to construct a paved connector trail from his home town of Cambridge WI to the Glacial Drumlin State Trail. All proceeds from the sale will go to support trail construction. The bike is fully functional but not entirely original. The seat bag, Sturmey Archer Hub, Brakes and seat post are period but not original. Frame paint would require restoration to be pristine. Phil says its "a wonderful ride with quick handling.
The number H22321 on the steering tube means the frame was produced in February of 1940 and was the 2321 one produced since #1 was produced in 1935. Here is a link to the Hetchins site for verification Scroll down to the paragraph starting with 1940.
To find all of Phil's bikes search keyword Camrock. Local pick up or buyer arranges shipping
