Yeah but... "Moderate dent to drive side top tube. Moderate paint chips and paint cracks to downtube..."

Dents make me sad and paint cracks make me scared.

1995 Serotta CSI Road Bike - $300 (Richmond)

https://vermont.craigslist.org/bik/d...002160946.html

As usual, no connection...and not close enough to me that I would be able to help, but maybe a great deal for someone.

In case anyone was curious; response from the seller:

"Hello,

I know this is unconventional to respond with more info and a new price but I offer no apologies as now I know more about
what Im selling and my lesson learned is to do all my research first before I post on craigslist. No harm No foul.
I am driving to Boston on thursday Oct. 20 if you are serious we can connect.

I have received 12 requests from interested buyers and I brought my bike to my local shop and the owner told me I am crazy to sell this bike for this price and he gave me the story as to how special this bike really is. So I am raising the price to $750 and if it does not sell then I will put it on Pink Bike. The shop owner said it is in awesome condition and it is a true classic and highly sought after brand and
this is good one! I guess I had no idea but now I do and someone will probably want it and Im in no hurry to dump it.

I am the sole owner of this bike since 1996 and spent a few years riding it only occasionally as I preferred mountain biking.

This is what my shop owner wrote up as a description for me.

The Colorado Concept tube shape is the perfect combination of stiffness where needed and compliance where desired. A huge amount of engineering has gone in to the development of this tube set.

Colorado Concept tubing - C4 steel frame
Size - Seat Tube 60 Top Tube 59 / Large frame
Shimano 600 which is similar to modern Shimano Ultegra
8 speed
Mavic Wheels with bladed spokes

Ben Serotta is a legendary bike maker and the lug work is amazing and the tube set has custom tapers that were revolutionary for this time and you dont see this build any more.
Original paint is in excellent condition.
Needs new tires and chain as this bike has not been ridden in over 5 years.

If you are still interested let me know.

Chris"

Reached out and here’s what he said:

I forgot to include the size - it’s not marked, but measured at 23in/58cm from center of crankshaft to top of frame at seat post. Does that work for you?

It’s got some wear but nothing major. Like a scrape on the top corner of the handlebars. The grips are a little discolored. There is a small insert missing that covers the head of an adjustment on the left shifter.

The problem with that landshark at least for me is that who knows if its a landshark at all and the other problem is that those 8 speed groups nobody wants them. Probably for somebody looking for a rain bike but to us sometimes is for getting the frame and flipping the parts or gettign the whole bike to get something needed and then sell the rest but who knows if tis a landshark, never seen one in full black and the fork is not helping either because has chrome in it, thing never seen in landsharks, im not an expert in the brand just in case ok???

This is for somebody living in DC, close to it because MD and VA guys just to drive to DC is a bummer... Price looks tempting tho.

That stinks....

To my mind, he's right that this is a great brand and a coveted model, but offering it at 2.5 his original price moves it out of the realm of good-deal/barn-find.

As I suppose is often the case with these "local" deals, best to knock on the door with cash in hand and hope for it to be as presented.

Sorry that this happened.

Hard to believe he is the “Original” owner and did not know that this was a special bike. He paid way more than a Trek/Spesh of that era, which would clearly make it more “special”. It’s a flip, he was making some money, now more... I’d say your fortunate not to deal with the guy. If you stay on it you will find a frame in similar if not better condition for a great price... the market is super soft

I was going to suggest something similar. It's highly unlikely that he'll sell it locally at $750 for that size. If you're interested, I'd call him back in a month and offer $400.

Here’s a nice bike on eBay. Not the cheapest in the world, but a good solid build and price:

The black landshark is being sold for 225 not 750... unless you guys are talking about the old trick of double the selling price upon arrival.

Honestly for 225 is a great deal my problem with it is that the fork looks like something else, japanese brand comes to mind and i cant say it because I have it at the tip of my tongue and I cant remember :/

Lot of people dies, states sales and other ways flippers get the stuff, maybe even was given away to the neighbor... who knows.

If robJ needs a partner to go to alexandria I would go with him just because im interested in the stem and handlebar if are what i think they are. I'm not into shimano tricolor stuff (i think thats the whole group) ...

HOnestly the frame and fork could go for the asking price (if are a landshark) the rest of the stuff is like a 600 ultegra 7 or 8 speed group which nobody actually would be willing to buy, nobody wants that stuff anymore. So do not see why the numbers that off... the other detail the guy measured center to top, that's interesting from somebody that might have no idea about bikes, probably the guy is just lazy and wrote the minimal to just have that thing off his home.

As for the carbon landshar.k, that thing is super nice, tad too much tho.
