you know what- people can dog the Lance coverage all they want- I watched The Science Behind Lance last night- I thought it was a damn good program- Leave it to the Discovery Channel to have cool graphics to explain aerodynamics and drafting- I also though they did an ok job of explaining a bit of Pro Racing- at least so that I non (or new) cyclist can have a better understanding of the race. Flame away- I enjoyed the program.

Now I doubt that I watch the program about his mom- but that is a whole different issue

I will just say watching Lance ride looking almost effortlessly inspires me to ride up some of the climbs here in Colorado and feel the burn when you finish the ride and have just won the tour stage in your mind. My wind tunnel test showed there was no material that would overcompensate for my stomach.

I caught the 'Science of Lance' last night and agree with DD the Discovery Channel did an excellent job of explaining the "science" around professional racing.

Yeah, there is a whole lot of LA coverage right now but is that really a bad thing? What will happen after he retires? Will we all be complaining that there isn't enough cycling coverage in the USA? I don't know the answer to that question but just throwing it out there.

I am a LA fan so take what I say with that bias in mind. Of course, I am a fan of ANY professional racer (they are all truly awe-inspiring) but I am also impressed with the work Lance has done and continues to do on the cancer front.

on FitTV (which must be owned by discovery channel) they are also running a show called "chasing lance", a 5-part, 5-night docu follow the disco team this year. the first episode last night was good. god love tivo -- watched the science of lance on discovery channel, while tivo-ing the fitTV show. ok, i'm a lance goober, but hey, i thought both shows were pretty decent. check your local listings, as they say. more lance stuff on tonight at 8.

Okay, so it's easy to O.D. on...

Lance and everything wrapped around Lance, but maybe... just maybe... these shows might spur more cycling related shows to hit the airwaves...er, cablewaves. Whatever.

Any wonderful weekend just shows how popular the road bike has become, certainly the demand for TV entertainment of the cycling kind is growing too. I know.. we hardcore don't watch TV.
