I need a new vest

I ripped my vest on a ride today. It's old and in need of replacement anyway, so hoping to score a black friday typed deal.

wish list:

-stretchy material, not rigid. The reason I ripped my vest today was i was trying to get in my rear jersey pocket and pulled too hard to get the bottom of the vest up. a more stretch material would be better

-not a dark color. doesnt need to be neon, but i dont want an all black or navy blue one either. something visible.

-very packable to fit in a jersey pocket

-hopefully one sale this week!

you can squeeze it in a pocket but it's not super compactible like some wind jackets.
however in terms of quality, breathability and comfort over a nice range, i love the rapha vest I own. an absolute staple for fall and spring.
it has two nice usable pockets on back (plenty of stretch)
and even a zipper pocket up front for keys or im not sure what else. anyway it's there :)
i borrowed one from a friend and decided I needed one within an hour.

I would say either Assos equipe rs rain vest which is bright orange and 30% off in their outlet. I love mine, just enough stretch and packs up perfectly or a Q36.5 adventure vest (20% off site wide for them) if you want something a bit warmer but maybe even more packable

I just ordered a new Afton Lite vest on sale from Cutaway. Like that it has rear pockets.

You could also look into a vest with a two way zipper. Zip the bottom zipper up to give yourself access to the rear jersey pockets

That looks great. Haven’t heard of this one before.

I second the Rapha classic vest. Two rear pockets and a little stretch due to the rear center mesh vent. Very light and easy to pack. I also have this vest from POC in chartreuse. Two slits in the rear that allow access to jersey pockets and it’s a bit warmer and tighter fitting than the Rapha. Both pieces breath very well. The zipped rear pocket is nice and being black, hides the inevitable splash marks. YMMV of course.

The Sportful Fiandre vest is awesome. Love the zipper as it is a nice big plastic one that goes up and down so easily but doesn't come down when you you don't want it to.

Love my Castelli Perfetto vest...bought it here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

stretchy: check
bright but not obnoxious: check (I find the orange a touch darker in person)
rear pocket: check
on sale: kind of check (Amazon showing it 19% off)

As for sizing, I am 5'6.5" (when you're under 5'9" my policy is it's ok to count half inches) and weigh 145lbs. Bought a medium and way too small/tight. Large fits well, but I lift weights and don't have a svelte upper body.

These days, I check Voler first when looking at any new kit. I became a fan from many years of racing with their custom team kit. I have one of their wind vests, it's got pockets, zips from top and bottom, good snug fit with just enough stretch and ventilation across the back. Lemme guess, you ripped the zipper right? Voler has the best durable zippers of any kit I own- great kit with crap zippers drives me nuts. Made in USA so no child labor shenanigans, they're having a 20% off everything sale now. https://store.voler.com/collections/...oducts/1010l96

Love my Voler wind vest too, it gets consistent use from fall to spring. The only caveat is that it doesn't pack quite as small as some of the really light vests, and I usually chose it for rides where I know it won't be coming off. Don't get me wrong, it's small enough to fit in a jersey pocket, just a tad bulkier than some others with less features and worse zippers.

Loved this when I had it. Was too big going to pick up a smaller size. Can't beat this price!
