Old Kentucky Home Tour

All,
very late notice.
This weekend

http://www.okht.org/

2nd year for new format.

Rolling terrain. Few hills over 1 mile (maybe none) but some nice short ones in the teen percentage.

Use to be a ride from Louisville to Bardstown, overnight then ride back the next day.

Now, All rides start/end in Bardstown.

3 distillery tours in town.(Heaven Hill, Barton, Willet)
2 within 20 miles (Jim Beam, Makers Mark)
2 more down the Bluegrass parkway in Lawrenceburg approx. 40 miles (Four roses, wild turkey)

If your not busy, on short notice. country roads.

How does this compare to the Bourbon Country Burn? I like the idea of staying in the high school instead of a tent.

Never done that one

Never did the bourbon burn before.

Rode those roads many times and they are good to.
It goes over a lot of the area that the Bluegrass Bicycle club goes through on their Horsey Hundred that they do on labor day weekend.

The terrain is similar in Bardstown, Frankfort and Lawrenceburg. Curvy ups and downs. Some steep some not, none long. I can think of one more than a mile but only around 3.5 percent.
The further east you go towards Lexington and Paris the more rolling it gets with horse farms.

Distillery tour are usually an hour long.
OHKT stars in the parking lot of a distillery. Another a mile away down a hill and up a long big gravel driveway. Another a mile away down and up a hill.
In the past there have been 2 gyms. 1 has AC and 1 not and always found room in the AC gym. Both have showers.
I usually stay in the Ac one. (typically hot and humid outside) Bring earplugs if your a light sleeper.
They are about 1.5 miles from the start with one hill involved either way you go.

I saw Uber and Lyft cars in town today.
I can thing of 3 nightlife places (Music and what not).
Small town charm with friendly people.

All routes start at one distillery. Friday and Sunday its the start and end. Saturday loops around to it with 47,40,14,10,5 miles options. (piece together for a century or more)

Marked roads today riding some tomorrow. Nice routes. This will be the first time I've did these routes. They were new with the new format last year but a hurricane/Tropical depression/storm was also coming through that week.

more info

Rode the century route yesterday.
Nice and hilly with beautiful views.

Wind is usually not a big factor in these parts since you are usually climbing or descending.
