I am in the process of building up my first steel bike since my Bridgestone RB400 that I rode and raced on in highschool.
Its a Carl Strong that will come in at or under 16 lbs and is an absolute beauty. Its dark blue metalalic paint, Edge carbon fork, Record 10, white FSA bars and stem, Masterpiece post, Toupe saddle. Question is, do I send the fork to Spectrum to match the paint to the frame? |

Funny, I went back and looked at my post in this thread, from August of this year.
What I listed then << Derek Bailey 753 Custom Claud Butler 531C Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra Eddy Merckx MX Leader De Rosa Professional De Rosa Primato Fausto Coppi Campionissimo Dancelli Columbus MAX Curtlo Custom CX - OX Platinum Custom Carl Strong "Dirt Road" bike Another Carl Strong on the way ............. This does not count the ones I no longer own. >> The MX leader is now gone. The Dancelli is gone. A Colnago Super I had is gone. A Merckx 7-11 is gone. In their place is yet another Carl Strong "Dirt Road Bike" http://lh4.ggpht.com/_QhwtCvS9cDE/SS...0/IMG_2924.jpg And, I also have added a rather nice Pegoretti. I'm still working my through those I have to decide which ones will stay and which ones will go. There really are too many. |
I currently own a Kirk and I'm in the queue for a Strong.

Steel Bike Rider
CSI - 25th anniversary edition. 56 x 56. Competition red and yellow, with black F-1 fork.
DA 9 components. Three sets of OPs. (Good weather, old set-winter riding, and hand-built trips only). Waited six years to find it. Great ride. Can't keep my eyes off it. Feel very fortunate to have it. |
Romulus (on loan to a friend)
Igleheart Breakaway (my main ride -- Columbus Spirit and Life mix) Igleheart 953 Breakaway Fixie Bob Brown 953 (on the way) |
'96 CSI (just converted to single speed w/an ENO hub)
'05 CIII (just frame/fork, waiting to be built up) '06 Gunnar Crosshairs (daily commuter and do everything bike) Pretty amazing collection of steel bikes listed in this thread. |
