ON TOPIC: What's on your mp3 player for riding the rollers, or the trainer?

hopefully we can keep this thread going through the winter, i'm always in need of new stuff to download to keep me sane riding in the basement.

currently listening to a backlog of NPR Radiolab podcasts i've got. they're very good IMO, and good for grinding out steady tempo stuff.

We went triplet riding all weekend, and I have an iHome speaker hooked up to it. I figured the only thing to play while riding a made in Chicago Schwinn is some made in Chicago blues. Lots of Chess recordings were featured :)

I've been listening to the Electric 6 while in the gym of late.

Loud and Angry music, Nick.

Haste the day, Senses Fail, Underoath, H2O, Four Year Strong, and some Jimmy Eat World for recovery.

But then there's an occasional splintering of something with a good beat, some N.E.R.D., some Kanye West..

youth lagoon "cannons" great guitar riff, not sure what he's singing about but i got lost in the melody. Most of the record sounds like it though, not enough difference in the rest of the tracks to make anything stand out. and listening to the usual Superchunk, the Mermen and sonic youth stuff.

I don't ride a trainer, been riding in the dark instead. But I've been catching up on neglected Iggy Pop. Found 3 on ebay I'd missed: Naughty Little Doggie, Beat Em Up, and Skull Ring. Don't play these for the kids, and you probably don't want the wife to hear you laughing at P**sy Walk either.

Also Austin singer-songwriter Randy Weeks. Didn't know about him, even though I've heard Lucinda Williams sing his "Can't Let Go" about 300 times-always thought it was hers. Noticed that he's going to be playing (semi)locally, so bought a couple of his cds for a preview. All over the place stylistically, from straight pop and almost country to bluesy and tex-mex.

Hi Casey,

Yeah the nephew and youngest son took off wih a pocket of cash to see that show and three others.

We tried to ditch them by going the opposite way on Sixth street, but they found us just in time for dinner.

Ended up getting some bbq from a food truck with a portable bbq off of Congress.

Good times.:)

Phoenix and Postal Service, great music. Nothing better than the little ones jammin' out to "cool" music, that you love. A few years ago, when my 4 yr old daughter (now 9) was dancing, unprovoked to "Snaggletooth'" from Motorhead, along with some old James Brown, I was overjoyed.

for some good, fast, driving music check out The Japandroids, or The Men, or if you're up for it, Converge. Some good grunge-ish stuff is always gonna include Soundgarden or Dinosaur Jr.
