They seem Rapha-like, but cheaper in prices.

Hey Weisan,
I just ordered a couple and some warmers. I will post when I have impressions.
Many seem to like them, though. An example:

if you want the rapha look, then get rapha.
one thing I can say about rapha is the pieces wash and wear well. they dont lose their looks. so that big up front dollar lasts a long time

A couple of friends and myself did a group buy and ordered 7 or 8 of these jerseys earlier this year.

For the price they are a real bargain. They're all beautiful (we got almost all their models). Same fabric as Rapha although maybe a bit thinner. Great quality overall. Wash well and seem to last. We all love them!

looks like the prices include a VAT tax, 20% does not apply to U.S. orders, so the price drops a bit, but the shipping adds 10 pounds

still looks very reasonable

For a brand that seems to be target of much disdain, there sure are a lot of copycats...

Are the torm jerseys as long as the Rapha? I liked my Rapha jersey but it was too long for my torso. Thanks.

They're shorter. A Rapha jersey can be long (and lose) enough to get caught in the back of my saddle (no kidding). I did not experiment this with the Torm. I'd say for my own body which is pretty std the Torm is a better fit. I'm comparing with the Rapha Club jersey. The Rapha lightweight jersey fits me like a glove.

Just buy the Rapha, not Rapha-lite. I don't ride a Seratto, a Six, or an Arbea.
Nor do I buy Bolex watches on the streets of New York.

This is a such a disgusting copycat of Rapha, I'm surprised they don't have not-so-epic ride videos. It wouldn't be so hard to come up with their own designs. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery if you have no imagination.

Frankly, I prefer it. Seems like all the quality and none of the "epic." FWIW, I ride a Merckx, a Pegoretti, and a Moots, and my wristwatch is an IWC.

My point is that it's such a shameless rip off of Rapha. Two armbands instead of one. Chest stripes like on the original version of the coutnry jerseys Why not use the sportwool and do something original stylewise? Hire a designer.

Each of the bikes you have and your watch is unique and illustrates my point. They didn't copy anyone else, but, instead earned their own reputation. This brand may make a nice product, but they are shameless copyists.

It's fashion - it is not proprietary. The fashion industry runs on copying the runway designs at the major shows. Is Brooks Brothers ripping off the tailor that invented the two button jacket or button-down shirt? Is the repp tie a proprietary design? Rapha's designs are pretty basic - not a lot of original artwork there. Rapha created a marketing niche, and now they have competition (remember those Members Only jackets). Maybe they will outlast their competition, like Starbucks did to the coffee up & comers. The consumer will decide.

Success will be followed with copycats. No doubt about that. That's part of Capitalism.

Those that are successful or are on their way to success should take precaution to guarantee the continuation and protection of its own success, via patent, trade secrets, alliance and marketing strategies. But still there will always be copycats. Apple (iPad, iPhone, etc) has its shares of copycats but you don't see people buying less iPads. Those who buy Ti bikes from Serrotta, Moots or Seven will never buy some off-brand Ti bikes from Asia. Perception is not always reality but it's a lot to do with marketing.

Defense is the best attack.

Try this - at least they were a little more subtle in copying, I mean their admiration of Rapha. A little more imagination used here.

This is too funny...

You guys all think Rapha is so original in it's style? It is almost entirely derived from the 1930's.

Rapha acknowledges that they are inspired by the classic styles. They brought it back, but they didn't directly copy a current competitor, like Torm has done to them.

Yeah, they certainly breathed new life into but maybe not the first. Many Italian companies have always held on to tradition while moving forward. Santini for sure and others I am unable to remember.

That said, I agree that Torm seems to be going after the same spirit and era so there is sure to be comparisons and arguments about who was first. I think the market is big enough for a few players to compete in it for sure. I also didn't notice and denim jeans or coffee makers on Torm's site ;-)

The Rapha name AND the Rapha script logo are knocked off from the St. Raphael sponsored team of Raphael Geminiani. If you care to look for some vintage pics there are numerous of team member Anquetil wearing winter woolies that have "Rapha" on the jersey and cap.

Rapha don't own the classic vibe and certainly have no claim to it.
