View Full Version : Sprucing up a carbon seatpost

I'd like to use a Campy carbon seatpost on a recently purchased HSG.
The post bears scuff marks from insertion in another frame. Is there a way to polish these marks out of the clear coat?
Also, is there a prep for use on carbon to carbon interfaces?
Thanks.

FAS carbon paste.
For insertion marks you fine sand and respray a clearcoat - not always worth the effort.

Bumping this to see if there is any more feedback.
Can you get a scuffed up carbon post to look new again?
If it is clear coated, you can use various automotive products if the scratches are not too deep --polishing compound, etc.

Yes, gently wet sand using progressively finer sandpaper. Then, if the original post was clearcoated, you'll need to re-apply a clear coat (even a basic clear spray from your local hardware store should work fine). It's not magic, and it's not particularly difficult, but there's no magic shortcut that I know of.

Yeah...I have an otherwise sweet Campagnolo Record 31.6mm that could use some freshening-up as a winter project.
Thanks for jumpstarting this thread.
