Hey All -

I'm officially in "road" mode and am retrofitty my winter steed. Got some Campy Centaur 10 speed levers, and have to reroute the shifter cable to be on the outside to work with my bars. There's a channel for this, but it's resulting in a bit of exposed cable and potential rub. I used the supplied taper cap (?) for one side, but the other side seems way to exposed to rub and other associated issues. Am I missing something? Thanks for any pointers!

The side (I think) should work.

BTW, these shots are the iPhone 4S. Pretty great camera for this type of stuff! :)

NO ferrules into those levers, cut the 4mm(MUST be 4mm) housing and the end of the bare housing goes into the hole. NO ferrules for the brake either, into the lever.

Got it....I figured what I was doing what wrong, but here's the problem - there's not enough room in that hole for the housing. Any suggestions?

are you sure you are using 4mm shift housing and not 4.5 or 5mm?

You aren't trying to use brake housing for your shifters, are you? Shifter housing is linear wrapped non compressible and usually 4mm. Brake housing is spiral wrapped and 5mm.

As OP said, no ferrules. Assuming you have the correct housing, loosen the shifter body until you can get the housing seated in the body. Then re-tighten the body to the bars. It may pinch that housing slightly but shouldn't interfere with shifting.

2009 and up take 4 mm derailleur housing. No ferules.

Then you aren't using 4mm housing. 4mm housing will fit. jagwire works great, Campag also but more $.

Yup, using 4mm jagwire - I had to sand the edge off and it was a REALLY tight fit, but I got it...thanks!

I have cut a couple of mms of plastic sleeve from the 4mm housing to over come this. But I've only had to do this with one set of bars, so I'm figuring its the angle the cables go in to these bars )where it sits on the bar).
