Hello..
I ride a wheelset that's close to 15 years old...recently noticed
when I do get to ride seems to me theres a bit of resistance
coming from the rear wheel...either when in the saddle or
when standing.
But..the wheel does spin freely when I just crank it while off
the bike..
could my rear hub be the culprit??

Depends of the hub and since u are not saying what hub is it is hard to tell.

If you have ball bearings the problem could be the axle, could be bent, easy to find out tho.

The problem could be the read end that is not straight either. If the axle is cracked or broken is clear that the rear end is not straight either.

Either way probably u have to take the axle off the hub.

Just my opinnion based in poor info, just assuming things.

I always start by ruling out the obvious. Brake rub, front or rear? Chainstay rub? Dragging derailer pulley? Dry or worn chain?
