Hello there, I'm new here so I thought I'd just say hello from the Lake District UK.
I picked up this yesterday.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/antlomas/6278892375/
from fleabay... a Colorado legend crl 93 model with Shimano 600 ultegra tricolour through out.
I think I got a bargain. I haven't ridden it yet, the photo was taken 'as is' last night.
According to the seller the bike hadn't been used for 10 years, so I can wait to check it out.
I've always loved steel bikes so I might say farewell to my Carbon.....
I just hope I can cope with the gearing going form a compact to a traditional 53/39, a bigger cassette might help. We have some steep hills here in the lake district! 33% or 1/3.
I hope you like the bike I'll post some more photos in the day light.

Welcome!
The bike looks great. Saddle angle is weird, and stem seems above the min insert line, which is an accident waiting to happen(?).
Not much matches a Steel Serotta in ride quality.
Larger cassette should be easy to find. What do you have there?

Yes I've had a look at the stem & it was over it's minimum insert line, I've tweaked the saddle too so it looks & feels better. Like I said this is how I picked it up!

I'm going for a 11-28 on the back as velobase.com recon the 600 will take a 28

I'll let you know what it rides like...

Great looking bike. I'm sure you can pick up a alloy compact (I recently got a Campy Chorus one here) on the cheap. Enjoy it.

How is the riding in the Lakes? I'm sure it has the potential to be beautiful but how do the narrow roads and tourist traffic make life? I am originally from near Hull and was back a few weeks ago and remember saying to my wife that I didn't fancy riding on the country roads barely wide enough for 2 cars both going 60 mph. I guess I did it when I was younger, the club I rode with had a junior TT (single speed) every week.

Welcome. Great bike and classic Serotta paint scheme. Nice picture of a Gulf Mirage in your photos too. There's a couple of threads here where it would fit right in. Where was it taken?

The riding is brilliant in the lakes. The tourists tend to stay on the east side so we have the west to our selves, the most famous ride/route is the Fred Witton (google it) finishing on harnknott pass, which is just down the road from me. The Uk roads are shocking though, that partly why I'm going off the carbon, it's ok when it's silky smooth like in Europe but over here steel soaks up so much more of the rougher Tarmac.

I have a 1993 CRL as well, only the colors are blue and yellow. I have switched to a compact set up and it works great so don't be afraid to try it out if you like the compact. I never could get a triple to work on this bike so a compact was the only option. Good luck and good riding.

Have a look at this thread, but there's some others with pics of Bedfords in team colors too.
