there's great hiking around gold beach, oregon. and a trip up the rogue river by boat is great way to spend a few hours.

At cresent city go can ride thru a great costal range of red woods
At south end of city Just off Highway one
You can go in and come back on highway

On the way from Crater Lake/Klamath Falls to Bend, instead of staying on Hwy 97 all the way to Bend, take a left in the tiny town of Crescent on the "Crescent Cutoff Road" and then take the Cascade Lakes Highway all the way into Bend . . . or part of the way into Bend, since there are any number of excellent hiking & camping spots along Cascade Lakes. Also, the Cascade Lakes Highway itself is a very good road ride.
