I am starting to dab into 11 speed Campy stuff and 2 questions popped up:

1- I measured the chainring thickness on the 10sp crankset at about 2.0mm and on the 11 speed crankset at 1.9mm. Can I use an 11 speed chain on a 10 sp. crankset?

2- The cable set that came with the record 11 setup is this one (photo). Is it the correct one for 11sp? it has no such mention on the package.

1-yes, no problem at all. Vice/versa also-10s chain on a 11s crankset. As you see from measurements, the chainring itself didn't get thinner but relieved portions around where it touches the crank arms put the big ring closer.

2-see if the der housing is 4mm in diameter. If it is, it is correct. If the der housing is 4.5mm, 2008 and older cable set. Ya gotta use 4mm der housing for 2009 and later 10s and 11s ERGO..NO ferrules into the levers for 2009 and later either. None for the brake housing into the levers either.

The chainring teeth did get thinner. .1mm or .004 inch doesn't seem like much, but it's a deliberate change and exactly what I measured back in 2008.

The chainring spacing may have changed, but one again, the amount is very small. The chainring mounting tabs are about .6mm thinner than 10 speed, that are another .4mm thinner than 9 speed. The mistake is in thinking that this forced the teeth to be 1mm closer. They are not. A drawing from Campy shows the spacing to be 7.7mm. You can find 9 speed chainrings and perhaps even 7/8 that are spaced about the same.

It's the shifting ramps that have change greatly.

11 speed der cables will have "ultra low friction" stamped on housing, inner cable is same as 10 speed. Brake cables and housing are same as 10 speed, with exception of not needing ferrules on lever end (for both brake and der housing).
