Can anyone clear this up for me once and for all?

The 11 speed cable set says only for 11 speed. OK. Well, I bought a 10 speed set from an online dealer who sells both 10 and 11 speed sets as two separate items, but when it arrived it looks just like the replacement set I got for my 11 speed group.

Does this mean that 11 speed replacement cables will work on the 10 speed stuff, but not vice versa?

Or did they just send the wrong thing set?

Thanks
KN

The 11 cables are thinner from what I know.

I think the non ultra might be 1.2mm while the ultra parts might use a 1.1mm cable.

Campagnolo makes this distinction between their cables so I'm guessing the new cables make your bike at least 20% faster.

But, like this post, no help to the OP ;)

The only difference between 10 and 11 speed cables is the narrow der cable housing (4.1mm) and the fact that you don't need ferrules at the lever end on 11-speed. You can use 11-speed der cables (stamped Ultra Low Friction on housing) on 10 speed as long as you find the few extra ferrules you will need for the lever end.

4mm der housing is a must for 2009 and later levers(small 4mm 'hole' for the der housing). The inner wires are the same 10s and 11s.For 2008 and earlier levers, I recommend 5mm der housing.

Not '11s' but the new shape started in 2009..10s also.

2009 and up 10's and 11's take the smaller housing. Inner wire unchanged.

2008 and before 10's take the larger housing.
