I'm looking to have one custom fit by Roland at his shop in Reno, NV. He will be looking at her personally.

She's a racer, does best at crits as she is a sprinter.

Does he build good race bikes STILL (I know the history) or are they just show bikes/bikes for your "english professor"?

ok, I gotta reply to this one. Let's put it this way, if you call Roland and tell him you're a collector and would like one of his bikes, he'll gladly build one for you but his pulse won't go up one beat over it. Tell him you're a racer and that you're going to be racing his frames and he'll treat you to hours (no joke) of enthusiatic recounts of his racing days and you'll be likely to hear questions from Roland such as "do you need the bike for a big race this weekend? I can get one ready for you if you need it"?

Bottom line, Roland builds up to date no BS race bikes. Whether you race them (as they are intended for) or put them in a museum is up to you.
