Seeing as this article is in the NYT, it's probably about 2 years late to the party, just as Paris, like most of the urban US, is pulling its head of of its collective ass, putting away the cracked carbon front wheel and looking for a new design to cover up that NOBR AKES knuckle tattoo.

Ah, well that's the western world and to be expected.
The Chinese have re-adopted the bike as status symbol.
You can bet fixies are a part of it.
