I am having a set of wheels built up using the Velocity A23 rim to be used on my Fierte IT. So I am looking for input from on whether to go silver or black hub, silver or black spokes and nipple color as well. I am looking for something that fits the carbon / ti look of the bike. I feel somewhat embarrassed in being concerned about fashion but hey why not get input on something that complements a great looking and great perfoming bike.

i really like the look of black hubs/polished spokes/black nipples/silver rim. i just think that it looks real classy.

All black or all black with silver spokes. That's how I roll...

black rims, silver brake surfaces, flat black C4 hubs, silver Sapim Laser spokers, silver alloy nipples...except for one red nip for good luck on each wheel. given another go around, i would choose black shiny hubs...which were not available at the time of ordering. these are installed on my carbonic Spec Roubaix. looks good to me.

these from Velocity are similar:

One has to consider the package, not just the wheels..

If the bike is sporty or racy even in colour and its current build i would go for lots of black to try and boost that racy feel.

If its painted classy or built to have a more sophisticated look id do as much silver as i could.

Black everything always looks good but im abit allergic to that silver brakesurface that ruins the look abit.

All silver wheels always look great imo if paired to the right frame.

The Fierte IT is carbon and ti, so carbon with a clear coat and silver/titanium.

I think your Fierte has the same or similar color scheme as my old Merlin and I have a few pictures of different wheels so you can see which you like more.

First is deep black rims with silver spokes/nipples and black hubs.

Next is all black rims/spokes/nipples/hubs.

And last is silver rims/spokes/nipples with pink hubs.

My personal favorite is black rim and silver spokes but they are on a deeper rim so it might not look as good on your A23s...

From this wheelbuilder and I know some disagree but brass nipps on rims with no eyelets, not aluminum, which can be cut by the spoke holes.IMHO.

I totally agree with this.

IMHO, my Ottrott looks equally good with black or silver rims, but I think it looks better either way with silver hubs and spokes. But then finding a nice silver hub is an issue.

I've built one set on silver 32H Circus Monkey hubs and they rock. From pictures they look identical to the hubs Velocity is selling.
