For some reason I just always liked the '88-89 team bikes. Were these Schwinn/Waterford or Serotta? Any other details?

Pretty sure they are Waterfords.

Yep that's the bike and I think that's Steve Tilford right? Just ran into him a few weeks ago at the Colorado race. He is still racing hard and still a monster.

Well, actually they were Schwinns, made in Waterford. Alan McCormack just brought his in..original, DT DA shifters, etc.

Cool thread. Lots of memories with that livery.

I just unearthed some Schwinn/Wheaties gloves from back in the day.

Couple years ago I stuck around to watch Pro 1/2 field at Gateway Cup in St.Louis. At the start line I saw this dude with mop of gray hair and looked to be in his '50's. Before I elbowed my buddy to ask *** I noticed National Champion stripes on his arm. Turns out it was Tilford, who, if i remember correclty was in a breakaway for most of the race that year and still finished top 10. Dude is still a monster for sure.

If you don't mind, may I ask why he brought it in? Selling it, for service...?
I'm about the same height as "the Leprechaun"...is it a 51cm?

He met a guy at the last day of the Tour of Colorado, who knew him and had the bike...so he gave it back to Alan. He brought it in because it was poorly setup, shifters didn't shift, brakes didn't brake so I made it work for him. It looked almost new.

Alan's a local guy, been working on his bikes for a while...as a matter of fact, he and his wife were the first on the scene when I got hit from behind in 2002. He called 911 as I was lyin' in a ditch. Up Elderado Canyon, July 6th, 10:30 in the AM..I was going up, he and his wife were coming down. I think because he was there, the lady didn't drive off.
