No Chambery?

I still get goosebumps watching LeMond, left for dead, claw back and beat Kelly, Konishev, Rooks and Fignon in one of the great finishes.

sort of the end of the innocence for me. after that EPO fueled and they never seemed to struggle as much on the climbs. all the heads of state were there. Great way to end an era it seems looking back. great race

Fun to watch over and over! Lemond has always reminded me of Pete Rose. Great in his respective sport, but idiots outside of sports.

'89 is one of the top ten. I would put it ahead of the '88 Fondriest win. Fondriest wins only because 1st and 2nd crash out. The general feeling after it happened was that Fondriest didn't really "win" it, more like he lucked into it.

Have not seen the videos yet boot looks like a good win, the main issue is that if before he had an ego problem, now will be even worse...

Cancellara did pretty good in 4th, for me he is the best one so far this year.

Give Cav credit for threading his way through in the last Km to be in a position to sprint. Huge pressure on him - and he delivers.

He did very well emphasizing over and again the team work that enabled him to win.

Maybe with some years passing he's become less obnoxious... ?

Hope so, anyway.

They should have called that race the World Sprinter Championship. The only surprise was seeing Cancellara up there amongst the sprinters; reminiscent of Milan-San Remo this year.

Agree. If you want to get pumped up better than a shot of espresso, watch the last 20k of LeMond's win. Great race, and great characters in the race at the end.

Flatted with a couple of km to go, was with the leaders...

What would the finale have been like had he been in the mix? We'll never know, but he would've been a factor.
