Mathematics at it's finest.

The decoding can't be overestimated.

My wife's father was one of those working at Bletchley Park on breaking the code. He had a degree in Math (actually he was pursuing a "Maths" degree at Cambridge when he was 'invited' to be part of the team to work on it). Sure beat serving on the front lines...

She's been to Bletchley Park - there's a museum there. Fascinating story. Good movie, too - Enigma. Based on book of same name by Robert Harris, for anyone looking for a good read and an interesting bit of history.

After all that work it turned out to be:

A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, etc... :p

I saw that this morning too. I think if I had gobs of money I would have to own that. A very significant piece of history.
