So I have a frame-set that is capable of going either 29er or 650b depending on set up.

I've tried several different dirt drop bars but haven't gotten the right fit/feel with them.

So I'm starting to wonder - maybe what I need to do is focus on more of a road/dirt road/gravel grinder configuration with some more road oriented/CX type handlebars.

This way I could get the brake hoods in a comfy position to ride on the hoods, and when needed I can get low and into the hooks of the bars. perhaps the cowbells are the ticket?

Thoughts/Opinions - Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I have the cowbells on my Vaya and LOVE them! they are a bit flared but nothing like the woodchipper bars... the only thing I can really say is they just feel right...

I actually think I might put these on my Casseroll build as well...

Bell Laps feel really nice too with some flare.

I was reading a comparison between these and the Bell Laps and there are features of the Cowbells that I prefer for my particular bike vs. the Bell Laps.

Bell Laps feel really nice too with some flare.

I think might be replacing the bell laps, but I'm not sure... Salsa still has some of the older stuff up with the new stuff (shaft seat post for one...)

I think I have them on my Fargo. I set them up like a normal drop bar?

turns out I have moto ace bell laps.

I did some testing tonight with a 70mmx6 degree FSA stem paired up with Origin8 Gary II bars. Pretty good, but I think it helps me realize the Cowbells would be even better for this particular bike and how I want to be in the "cockpit."
