View Full Version : High as it goes

No roads here, only jeep tracks and singletrack.
I went up to the highest part of the Grand Raid, a crazy MTB race that goes from Verbier to Grimentz every year in the Swiss Alps. Serious elevation gain.

Descent was not too shabby, with 4200ft elevation loss. Now I know why I ordered a new MTB with a modern fork.

Enjoy:

Cannot even imagine how cool it would be to have a place like that to ride. How are you liking the MTB.

place is beautiful, but you have to be fit. I left from the dam and crossed over to the next side valley then down to the main valley and up the other side back home. I am seriously cooked now.

I have been on MTBs for over 20 years on and off and this Dean is early 90's vintage. Every single part is obsolete. Still works great but the fork and the brakes are really weak points.

You must be feeling pretty good on the bike these days, then? You sure had some perfect weather too, wow. Fingers crossed we have good weather next week too, as I am really looking forward to riding with you again. :)

Thanks for sharing the photos and the story of your day. Great stuff!

Those pics rock! Remind me of why I miss Switzerland so much!

I'll be there next weekend for a long weekend. With the bike hopefully!

I'll try to take some pics too, though I doubt they will be quite as spectacular.
