Has anyone noticed that some of the riders have super shallow traditional drop bars in the tour. I am using the Deda shallow drop traditionals and really like them, but they are no where near as shallow as some I see tour riders using.

Are they custom bends or can you buy bars with even shallower drops like that?

Thanks...JT

There is a handlebar called the IRD Blackbird Comp which has 105mm drop. So this doesn't need to be custom.

Easton pro bend carbon is 130mm drop- ITM millenium is pretty shallow as well. I guess Ritchey makes a 135 mm drop, but it has a bit more reach.

These are traditional bend. Check out the pic. Look at the FDJ rider...those are super shallow compared to the Gerolsteiner rider next to him.

Doesn't the "drop" number reflect the length of the straight, drop section, and not the shallowness of the drop section with respect to the top bar?

I notice that the FSA wingpro has 90 mm drops, but these are not shallow by any stretch of the imagination... http://www.cyclingforums.com/store/us/catalog/product_117_FSA_WingPro_Bar_cat_4.html

the link you included has the reach and drop reversed- the bars have a 145 drop- which is deep by todays standards-

Well..got a free moment and looked around. Maybe this is what they are using. By Salsa.

That is as short and shallow a traditional bend as I could find. Not a bad price and not crazy heavy either.

Thanks...JT
