View Full Version : Best (or your "go to") mini pump?

Wondering if there's a pump that small enough to fit in a saddle bag or in a jersey pocket that you'd rely in a crunch. I have a Top Peak Road Morph but wondering if there's now something in a smaller, more compact package.

TIA!

As for size, buy whichever length fits where you need it.
I tend to buy smalls since they fit in my seat bag.

+1 as well. the hose is very well designed - I've bent a lot of stems with other mini pumps, but the Lezyne screws on and won't damage stems. It works very well.

I was tempted to go with the Portland Design Works Magic Flute just for looks. I've seen them in person, very nice. But Lezyne wins imo.

+1000. I trust my Lezyne more than I do the cartridges. And since it works on Presta and Schraeder, I helped a BMX'er pump up his rear tire so he could make it hom.

I like my Lezyne very well. However the Lezyne has two disadvantages compared to what you have.

I read this could happen and then experienced the Lezyne unscrewing the valve core. I am not sure what tubes that applies to but maybe someone or Lezyne can steer you away from those.

You cannot get as much leverage on the Lezyne so unless you are strong enough you will not be able to get as high a pressure with the Lezyne.

Now that I have seen both in action I would probably opt for the Road Morph but will keep my Lezyne with no regrets as it is far superior to anything else.

I think I like the road Morph better!

They also don't work with a lot of valve extenders.

I have the Road Morph and the Lezyne - I carry the Lezyne on long rides because it's more compact. Having said that - It takes considerable elbow grease to get the tire pumped up to more than 90 psi with either pump but I also carry a co2 cartridge which takes about 3-4 seconds to get the tire up to 90 psi or more. So I carry the pump as backup to co2 which is awesome as far as I'm concerned.

I always carry a full-size frame pump like the Blackburn while out training. Pumps faster and easier than the road drive. When racing I've got a spare wheel ready to go in the pit (for crit's) or co2 for road races.

I tend to break stems with this type of pump. Like the flexible hose style better.

Lezyne A-1. I also have a Road Morph which will pump up a bit faster but imx isn't well enough made. They hold together a bit longer than other minis but not as well as the Lezyne. Both of these pumps have hoses that isolate your pumping motions from the wheel, avoiding stem-tube damage/flats.

Very timely as I've been looking for a lighter/smaller alternative to my Road Morphs.
The Pressure Drive looks like it pumps more air but I suppose it's a bit larger in diameter. Any other diffs?

+1 on Lezyne, with one caveat the metal housing chips/scratches very easy.

Looks like there's a consensus, but what about this one from pdw?

as I alluded to in my post, they look great. I've seen their stuff on shelves. but I tried a Lezyne and was hooked on the mechanism - and Lezyne doesn't look too shabby.

quicker pro. don't get to use it much, but never had a problem damaging a valve. has a built in pressure gauge and is easy to pump up to full pressure. slick swedish design, air goes in on both the push and pull stroke...built like a volvo.

That video is hilarious.

I think that guy likes to use the machining tools to make rings.

How many does he have???? 5 I think I saw.

I just bought two pumps after too many flats and too few co2 cartridges...

Specialized Air Tool Road and Blackburn Airstik 2 Stage:

The blackburn works great. Luckily I haven't yet had the opportunity ot try teh white specialized air tool.

Crank Bros with the gauge and alloy barrel.
I must have pumped 50 tires with that thing and
it is flawless.
2 stages, one for volume, 1 for high pressure
A real tool (in a good way)
I have the short one for the road bike and the longer one ~7" for the MTB
as a matter of fact I needed it yesterday during my tour de hurricane damage.

Another vote for the Lezyne.

Just really well made for the price. It got me off the CO2 cartridge kick.
