It's been repainted and stickered. The only stickers say "serotta" and "made in the usa". It's got semi-horizontal drop-outs and 126mm spacing. It's kind of a twitchy ride. Any thoughts? I can snap more pics if nessa. The guy I purchased it from told me it is a Davis Phinney but I'm not sold on that. Thanks

The dropouts are kind of unique, should be a giveaway to the right person. If you look at the Davis Phinney in the 1991 catalog, it clearly does not have those dropouts, but it chould be an older one.

Does it have a tapered seat tube? What's the serial number? Seat cluster pic might help.

I can't tell too well from the photo, but does it have two S bend chain stays or a straight one on the drive side?

Stays aren't S bend, but it could have one curved and one straight.

Easiest thing to measure that distinguishes a Phinney is the long top tube.

measure the seat tube and TT, c to c

The serial # might help.

Sorry guys I forgot all about this thread. Now I plan to sell the frame or bike, and I ought to know what it is first.

The top tube c-c is 56.515cm
the seat tube, c-c is 55.245cm

The serial number is 90203

The stays are not s-bent

Here are some more pics.

Thanks!

I don't think that this bike is a Serotta.

It looks like a first gen Phinney.

I bought it off my old high school physics teacher and he told me it was a Phinney. Perhaps he just got the year wrong. Thanks Dave.

Serial number indicates it's an '89. 1989 catalog says the Phinney has the asymetrical rear triangle (curved left, straight right chainstay). The catalog also shows no 55 cm Phinney, but states that all models were available as customs. Brake bridge have the Serotta S?
