1250 fps and will absolutely end tiny lives.

It shot through the back of the metal target trap that I bought using the armour p rounds... Use the poly tipped ones for rodent.

similar to the lyrics of the War song:

'what are they good for? absolutely nothin'...'

EXCEPT putting a point of emphasis to the sentiment that I do not like my neighbor's herd of feral cats crapping in my yard.

Just got one. Fun for target in my backyard. If the racoons keep going at my trash I might find another reason for it.

I got the .22 for some extra stopping power.

In addition to rodent control... They're very useful for keeping skills up without spending a ton of money. Ammo has become VERY expensive these days.

Check with your local police Dept. for the laws in your area.... most are limited to about 100 yards from the nearest house. You don't want your neighbors calling the local Gendarmerie...

I own this one:

http://www.airgundepot.com/crosman-npss-22-in-carbon-fiber.html

Absolutely SILENT and accurate to 50 meters 1/2" group. 1000 fps .22 - I use Crossman hunting pellets and it drops furry rats instantly. I am told it will take out groundhogs, but they don't bother me much... need a head shot to take 'em out cleanly... a squirrel you can hit anywhere in the body and they are done. But with the accuracy, head shots are no problem. They also learn rather quickly to avoid my back yard... and my wheels :)

I use it mostly for just plinking targets... fun and cheap.

Airguns will give you everything you like about shooting as a sport only without the expense, the noise and the danger of shooting a hole through the foundation of your house. Most Olympic target competition is done with airguns these days, and you can set up a 10 meter target range in your basement in minutes and at very little expense. Even better, the sound won't wake up anybody in the house and won't cause your neighbors to call the police to report shots fired, and you won't even have to clean the gun when you're finished.

My Daughter(15 yr old) and play sniper games in the front yard all the time.

We buy the little green plastic army men and go for head shots.

At 50-60 feet from the porch it is quite challenging, and FUN

The really cheap plastics guys from the dollar store explode the best :)

I have a 10m international range and 30m bench sniper range set up in my suburban backyard. Great shooting, for those, like me, who view it as a sport. Never a complaint from the neighbors.

BTW, I believe that a 10m international air rifle is considered to be the most accurate of all rifles, at 10m, that is.

Wow, airguns have really come a long ways since the early 1970's and the Crossman 760.

lmao, I had the 761XL. I had to pump that thing 15-20 times to get any PSI... Not exactly good for hunting anything.

I could creep through the woods well enough, carefully sneak up wind and get reasonably close and then

THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK-THWAK!

CLICK-CLICK...

Very Very few woodland creatures stuck around past the first THWAK.

You know what's funny is that old gun had a better quality scope than the Bone Collector, but the BC has really good accuracy. I put a modified EOTech on it and what ever the little red dot is on, gets a hole within 3/8ths of an inch out to about 40 yards without wind.

I was surprised at how much power this old Benjamin Sheridan has on three pumps.

my Ruger with a 10 shot magazine and scope is kept to deal with small critters who have problems and get too close. I have had two rabid coons over the years, for instance, which needed to be taken out humanely, and quickly. The scope makes a good shot possible, and the 22 gives you range. Teaching my kids how to handle a rifle when they were old enough was also good, in the knowledge tops fear department.
A friend has a set of airgun target pistols, though. Now those are fun.

Then I bought the Mk.2 after Don Nygord won the Olympic gold with a shortened barrel.

These guns are outdated now, having been superseded by the pneumatic and CO2 models.
But they still shoot .2" groups at 10M. No cartridge pistol can touch them. I have a couple of
their rifles too.

Not exactly the sort of thing you can use in your basement, though. And besides, just how much muzzle energy do you need to punch holes through a paper target?

That is what .177 is for... .20, .22 etc are for varmint control. Quiet, cheap, effective.

Indeed, I've seen Tom Gaylord [aka "B.B. Pelletier"] shooting a .50 cal big bore air gun at the Damascus MD range. You can hunt deer with those. But the muzzle blast isn't much different from an M1 Garand, and it should be pretty obvious, you'll need a bit more than a wooden frame and a pound of putty to make a pellet trap that will work in your basement for one of those!

Do people actually hunt deer and pigs with air guns? That Dragon Claw Dual Tank Air Rifle is interesting but has less power than a standard .45 ACP round fired from a pistol.

Yes... they do. Less power? I think you need to check the math again... I know 600 fps may not seem like much, but it is 50 cal... It will go straight through a 4x4... or concrete block. ke=1/2mv^2

I agree speed kills, but so does mass. AND FWIW - technically, it is not a rifle, so you might be able to hunt with this where you can't shoot other guns.

I just think it is a beast of an air gun.

I have friends that are farmers. Their hate has to do with crop damage. My varmint dislike has to do with destruction to my stuff... namely chewing on propane lines, furniture, the house, oh yeah... and my garden.

What is a squirrel other than a tree rat? Don't let the fur fool you... they 'wheel' get you!

My real hate of late has been stink bugs... they destroy crops! I sure hope some now useless critter takes a liking to them... starlings or sparrows perhaps?

:crap:
