View Full Version : 130mm Wheel into a 135mm spaced frame?

Looking at buying a touring frame with 135mm spacing. Will my Campy record 130mm hubs fit fine in it or do I need to build some 135mm wheels? Is there an axel swap available?

Cheers,

GG

touring=steel? do you plan on taking the wheel off much? I don't see a problem with squeezing the wheel in and riding it.

Are you going to tour on it? I would feel much better with a 135 wheel during a tour.

I have different sets of wheels for my 130, 135, and 145 bikes. I swap around the fronts, but each bike has its own rears.

White Industries will build a 135mm oln Campy hub on request,
DT Swiss will tell you what parts to buy to put 135 Campy hub together.

I use a Jtek with Shimano XTR hubs, for my Ergo equipped road bike.

Forcing the dropouts non parallel with a 130mm wheel into a 135mm dropout is not a good idea, IMHO. No way to space a Record hub to 135 but you can cold set a 135 frame to 130mm...

Not a good idea. You are potentially sacrificing a frame that costs multiples more than a $200-$250 wheel. Beware of the old adage "the stingy man often pays more".

The only campy compatible hub in 135 is DT"s.

If there is another I don't know of it.

I had my touring bike speced to 130 because of this.

How much (mm's) of your 130 axle ends are actually in the frame's 135-spaced dropouts when centered? The fender washer idea sounds good to me, as long as there is still sufficient axle length remaining to seat in the dropouts.

Agree with the washers response...worked for me on my Hakkalugi.
