It's been a while since I had been on a bike. Sunday was a 'free day' and I had just installed some new Simplex shifters (thanks Walter) on my Bruce Gordon so what better way to spend the day then a shakedown ride on San Juan Island.
Arriving in Friday Harbor:

I had the day to myself.. rode clockwise around the Island exploring some new roads.

I met Mr Fox in American Camp

Rode along the westside thru groves of Madrona Trees to Roche Harbor

It was nice day. One that i'd like to repeat with some friends someday soon.

That's such a great place! When we lived in Seattle, we'd take our boat to Roche Harbor then dinghy over to Westcott Bay and visit the oyster farm there and come home with a dozen fresh harvested petites. Westcott Bay oysters are my very favorites.

Excellent pics and bicycle!!!!

My wife and I took a similar ride with the kids three summers ago, and it was quite memorable. I recall the blackberries being plentiful, and the Orca sightings were fantastic.

BTW The Record rear derailleur you sent me saved our trip. 551 miles in 8 days, and nary a whimper from the bike. Not a similar story from the rider. :)

Thanks again for your generosity.

Thank you for posting those wonderful pictures.

I used to spend a lot of time in the San Juans, mainly Lopez and Orcus islands. The reward for riding to the top of Mt. Constitution.... an amazing view from the stone lookout tower:

Beautiful! Love the fox pic. I spent some time biking the dirt roads around Waldron Island. Pretty spectacular part of the country.

I'll add this to the list. BG bike already on the bike one, I mean San Juan on the biking ride list.

Bet it's not 110 there.

Thanks OP and William for the photos. Just brightened my day. Lovely. Just lovely.

Seattle has not hit 85 yet this year. We are wondering what happened to our summer here. Today we may make it to 65
Temps on the Island were in the low to mid 70's. Ahhhhh

Gomango, I am glad you got the RD in time for your ride

Thanks for the complements everybody
