I have to head up there to pick up a new dog  Wanted to get in a ride while I was up there. Anyone have any good routes in the 50-60 mile range? Thanks.

HIghway 36 west out of town gets you into some nice country once you are into the hills a bit. It's very dry and brown low down, but soon becomes green and densely wooded. Near the junction of highways 36 & 3 is Wildwood Rd. Follow that NE to 3, then 3 S towards Hayfork, then S again back to 36 and finally 36 back to your start. Beautiful, sparsely traveled country. The loop will be something like 80 miles. See linked route here (http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=57787) & PM with questions.

This used to be a free site and is geared more toward motorcycles, but it has a lot of great route descriptions for California. Might be worth a look to see what registration gets you. Red Bluff and the surrounding hills will be HOT. Take plenty of water and make sure that your route has water available on it or you will be setting yourself up for a bad day. Nice country up there, though.
