Recently I had started a thread (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=93658) explaining why my kid wants a hipster bike.
After a few days of doing a CL search I got lucky. In very usual bikesdirect.com fashion, someone thats 5'10" purchased a 60 cm, steel fixie. Before he ever opened the box he tried a similar size bike at a LBS and determined the TT was way too long. Instead of exchanging it, he just sat on it for a full year and decided to sell it on CL. He is about an hour away on the sticks of NC and was not getting much interest. I emailed an offer for $250 bucks and he told me to come get it. The box had NEVER been opened. Strange.
I unpacked it, slapped it together and it's ready to be chained to a rack outside my sons dorm.

It's a tad bit on the big side for him but will work just fine. I took it for a short spin and it rides OK. It was my first time on a fixed gear bike so I was really concentrating more on that than anything else.
It doesn't have water bottle mounts so it must be a pretty legit racing machine!
While I consider it a steel steal @ $250, it's pretty damn amazing that you can get this brand new for $400 shipped.
