I love the caption of this photo: "In the Netherlands, respect for bicycles is hard-wired into the culture."

Packing bicycles together like sardines is giving them respect? :confused:

Well, it's better than throwing them into the canal, I suppose.

In my experience, Dutch bikes are rode hard and put away wet. But then they are usually stolen before they wear out.

Best analogy imho is working bikes in Holland are treated about the same as lawnmowers in the US.

The dutch city bikes are built for rough treatment. They can take that. It is not as though they are stacking up a bunch of top shelf race bikes like that.
