I am home recovering from emergency surgery that I had
Friday night for ruptured diverticulitis. My road to recovery
Is being paved with some good food my daughters have
Prepared for my return home.
...And rest...plenty of really--good--rest...
My surgeon feels my recovery is going exceptionally well
Because of my pre-operative level of fitness.
So, thank you forum friends for being a part of
Not only my survival
But also my recovery to wholeness.

Very sorry to hear of your illness but it looks like a happy ending. I had a baseline over 50 colonoscopy early this year and it eased my mind that I have no problems. Also an added benefit was getting rid of all the gas and bloating problems I had developed in the last couple of years.

Wow, so sorry to hear the news.

Oh well, good chance to get caught up on all the reading you been putting off.

Looks like your well protected during your convalescence.

Can I come over and help you out with some of your daughter's "get well" cooking? I'll bring a few brews or some Crown Royal for yah.

Get well soon Spidey !

I am sure your Lew is sad and confused.

Glad to hear they got you all fixed up, and you know more than most about what it's going to take to get back to 100%

Heal up quick...glad this happened after your Hawaii trip (if it had to happen).

Twenty years ago I almost let mine get that bad but my doctor got the infection under control with massive doses of antibiotics. He opened his office on Sunday when I told him the pressure from the elastic in my boxers was excruciatingly painful.
I was weak for several weeks afterward but no surgery was required.
Now that I know the symptom I recognized a recurrence very early about ten years ago, cut short a camping trip and got on the antibiotics before I even got uncomfortable. No problem since then.

The post-colonoscopy notes from last May indicate that the diverticula are there for all to see who are passing by with their scope so I just have to remain alert to the early "rumblings" in the future.

FWIW, my doc told me if I had experienced similar pain on the RIGHT side vs the left it would have been appendicitis and that would have ruptured long before I had sought help because the appendix is not as tough as the wall of the colon.

Take your time recovering. I was amazed how tiring a 4 block walk was a few days after my symptoms subsided.

Glad to see you are recovering.

I see a friend is comforting you. The extra 20lbs leaning against you must be fun. Pets always know when something is up.

Better an empty house than a bad tenant! Heal well.

I can't tell you how glad I am to have that orange sized mass
Out of my body...it was externally compressing the ureter
Simulating renal colic that could never be passed!
Excruciating!
10 times the pain of previous kidney stones...
...And then with free air...
I have to say I was surprised but somehow relieved to see it
When I was looking at my scan in the ER!
This recovery mountain
Will be a much longer journey than the haleakala climb

I would hate for it to be too much temptation during your recovery, so if you need someone to "hold" your new Kirk until you're feeling up to it just let me know...

After all, anything for a friend! :)

The terraplane is down at the shop and the fsa post has been extracted.
So, if you could pick up the bike and the wheels from the basement
Then my greatest current temptation will be taken away...
Maybe someone in your family could ride it for me every day!
...And I will have dave ship the crosser directly to you
--so you can be the bearer of both kirks for me--
